Our PSHE subject definition
Intent
At Matchborough First School we have introduced a whole school PSHE scheme called Kapow.
Kapow combines PSHE, emotional literacy, mindfulness, social skills and spiritual development.
Kapow is designed as a whole school approach, with all year groups working on the same theme at the same time. The scheme aims to give children the knowledge, skills, and attitudes that they need to effectively navigate the complexities of life in the 21st Century. The curriculum covers key areas which will support children to make informed choices now and in the future around their health, safety, wellbeing, relationships, and financial matters and will support them in becoming confident individuals and active members of society.
To find out more about the PSHE curriculum at MFSA, follow the links below for our progression of skills for each year group. If you would like to find out more about PSHE at our school, please speak to your child's class teacher or Mrs Smith (KS2) or Miss Gibbs (KS1).
Key areas
Kapow have categorised our lessons into the five key areas below, which we return to in each year group, making pupil’s prior and future learning clear and shows how what you are teaching fits into their wider learning journey.
