Welcome to Year 1

PE Days 

On your child's PE days please ensure you send them into school wearing the correct kit. 

                                      Indoor PE  - Wednesday                   Outdoor PE - Friday 

   This term we are doing Gymnastics in our indoor PE. Please ensure your child has shorts in their bag to put on before the lesson so they can safely use the apparatus. 

Spellings

We will start spellings in the new year. Please read with your child for 5 minutes every day.  

Home learning

All children in the school are rewarded for reading and for learning at home. They will receive a merit every time they read and complete some homework and it is recorded in their log.

15 merits = Bronze

20 merits = Silver

25 merits = Gold

We encourage children to bring their books back daily to have them changed, however we expect to see and change their books at least twice a week!

In the summer term, we will start weekly spelling tests. We will upload these here for you, as well as on Spelling shed. Tests will take place every Friday morning!

This is where you will find all of your child's spellings once they begin. At the minute we have uploaded our High Frequency Words for you to practise. There are games to help the children learn their new spellings each week.
