Year 3

Home Learning Page!

Happy Summer Term Everyone!

All the staff in Year 3 hope you are safe and well. This page is for you to continue accessing Year 3 learning resources and will provide you with some activities to complete whilst you are at home. A lot of the activities are online, some of them you can complete with paper and pens and others may need a few resources. Don't worry if you don't have everything - use what you have got or try a different activity.

Each week we will post an English activity based on either; reading, writing or SPaG and will regularly update a foundation subject activity (like PE, Geography, History, Music or Science) in the 'Why Don't You Try It?' section. There will also be a Fact of the Day and a Fluent in 5 task each day for you to try with the answers being given the next day! You don't have to complete all of them but try a few just to keep that brain in check!

Remember, you are not limited to what is on here! Enjoy baking a cake, reading a book, practising an instrument or a new hobby. Lots of celebrities are getting involved as well:

We can't wait to hear about all the amazing things you've been doing.

If you have any questions about your child's learning or you would like to send us pictures of your home learning and projects you've completed you can email us on:

year3@matchborough.worcs.sch.uk

Let us know if you'd like this work shared on the website laugh

We've really enjoyed catching up with you all!

Please make sure you stay in touch!

You know where we are if you need us!

The Silly Squad Summer Reading Challenge 2020

The Summer Reading Challenge is an annual event delivered by public libraries across the UK. Produced by the Reading Agency, it is designed to encourage children aged 4-11 years continue their reading during the summer holiday break from school and discover the adventures that can be had with reading for pleasure.

This year, due to the impact of COVID-19, Silly Squad, Summer Reading Challenge 2020 will be delivered online from June to September and will celebrate funny books, happiness and laughter.

The Summer Reading Challenge encourages children aged 4-11 to read during the long summer holiday with research showing that children's reading can 'dip' severely during the summer if they do not have regular access to books. With school life disrupted during COVID-19 lockdown and many children missing the company of their friends, this year's Summer Reading Challenge will be all the more vital as a way of helping parents and carers find fun, family-friendly activities, maintain literacy levels and create a safe space for children to connect with their peers.

Take a look at the links below for more information and to register for the challenge. Happy Reading!

Activities

Click on the tabs below and have a go at solving the different maths challenges.

There are now Discussion Sheets and HW Extension Sheets for each Maths topic.

In school we have covered Place Value, +-x÷, Money, Statistics, Length and Perimeter and half of the Fractions topic.

Please don't feel like you have to complete every sheet and all the questions. Use them to support your home learning activities.

You could also have a go at writing your own maths problems.

Why don't you send them in and we could post them in our 'Your Home Learning' section for your peers to have a go at too.

So Year 3, your time with us has nearly come to an end and we are all so sad that we didn't get to finish this year with you.

There is a variety of things you can do this week for your English activity.

You could:

- Write a letter to your Year 3 teacher telling them all the things you enjoyed about Year 3

- Write a letter to your new Year 4 teacher to introduce yourself

- Make a scrap book of  all of your favourite 'lock down' memories and write about them.

- Write a poem about your 'lock down' adventures

Remember to send your completed work into year3@matchborough.worcs.sch.uk
