WALT order events on a timeline
Your task is to order significant Viking events onto a timeline. First watch the video below (click picture) to find out the impact the Vikings had on Britain.
Using the document below, cut and stick the events chronologically onto a timeline. If you are unable to print, feel free to draw the pictures and write the key information. If you are unsure, what a timeline is, take a look at the video below by clicking the picture.
Be as creative as you like. You can add a title and your own pictures. CHALLENGE: Research at least 3 the events and write down further information about them.
Take a look at the examples below:
WALT recognise tenths
Today we will be looking at 'tenths' which can also be written like this 1/10, 2/10, 3/10, 4/10, 5/10, 6/10, 7/10, 8/10, 9/10, 10/10.
'Tenths' means that you have a total of 10 EQUAL parts. It could be represented like this:
YOU MUST REMEMBER THAT EACH PART MUST BE EQUAL. A SHAPE MUST THEREFORE BE SPLIT INTO 10 EQUAL PARTS.
Can you explain why the second image has got a RED CROSS by it? What is wrong?
We can also represent 'tenths' using a PART PART WHOLE model.
10/10 can also be written as One whole, see the image below.
10/10 and 1 Whole are EQUIVALENT. They are equal.
WALT change notes to sentences
Using our notes from our research about the Vikings, we now need to turn these into detailed and interesting sentences using sentence openers and conjunctions.
Take a look at the example below. Notice which sentence openers and conjunctions have been used. We need to include specific details to make our sentences more interesting.
TASK: You now need to turn some of your notes into interesting sentences about the Vikings. Use the sentence openers and conjunctions below to help you. We look forward to reading your sentences!
Look below to see some super sentences that we came up with in our lesson. Remember to magpie!
