Our new tricky word is:
Read the word. Remember tricky words cannot be sounded out like most of the words we read in phonics.
When you are confident you can read the word,
Look at it, say it, cover it, write it, check it
If you spell it correctly 3 times in a row, write a sentences with the word 'like' in.
Please remember, your child should be spending 1 hour on Maths a day. Half an hour of this lesson is delivered on zoom and the second half an hour is available in Teach it, Twist it and Deepen it activities. Please do not access these activities until after the Zoom session. Thank you.
When subtracting crossing the 10, your first jump should be to the 10.
For example, 15 - 8 would first be 15 - 5.
Then we need to find out how many more we need to subtract by partitioning 8
8 = 5 + 3 so we now need to subtract 3 more to find the answer 15 - 8 = 7
You should be spending half an hour a day on your phonics activities.
The Phase 3 grapheme we are revising, the Phase 5 grapheme is a new sound for you to try.
'oi' is mostly found in the middle of words.
Watch the video below and read along with the words on the screen.
When you have finished the video, have a go at reading the words on the poster above.
Choose 5 words and put them into sentences. Can you include any tricky words too?
ow is an alternate digraph for the one we have already learnt, 'oa'.
Watch the 'ow' video below and ready along with the words as they pop up.
Then, have a go at the dice game.
(Don't worry if you don't have a dice, you could make a spinner or some number cards instead).
Which ever number you pick, you must read one of the words. If you get it right you can move onto another word. Can you fill the whole grid and read all of the words?
Challenge - Can you write any of the words in a sentence?
Please remember, your child should be spending 1 hour on English a day.
Half an hour of this lesson is delivered on zoom and the second half an hour is available in the uploaded activities. Please do not access these activities until after the Zoom session. Thank you.
WALT sort adjectives
What is an adjective?
They are describing words. They tell us more information about the noun. Watch the video below to find out more.
Today you need to read a list of adjectives and decide if it can be used to describe Supertato or the Evil Pea?
For example, would we use the adjective 'green' to desrcibe Supertato?
If you are unable to print the sheet below, draw your own characters and write the adjectives next to the correct one.
Each subject should take you an hour to complete.
PSHE WALT celebrate success
Today we will be thinking about success and what this means. We all have different goals so our successes will be different too. Have a look at the powerpoint below and then complete the task at the end.
PE throwing and catching
Last half term we learnt how to throw underarm and overarm.
This week we would like you to have a go at some of these activities, or all of them if you want to! Use what you can at home and have fun doing it!
If you finish these activites, have a go at playing a throwing and catching game like piggy in the middle.
