Our new tricky word is:
Read the word. Remember tricky words cannot be sounded out like most of the words we read in phonics.
When you are confident you can read the word,
Look at it, say it, cover it, write it, check it
If you spell it correctly 3 times in a row, write a sentences with the word 'do' in.
Please remember, your child should be spending 1 hour on Maths a day. Half an hour of this lesson is delivered on zoom and the second half an hour is available in Teach it, Twist it and Deepen it activities. Please do not access these activities until after the Zoom session. Thank you.
WALT solve subtraction problems
Today we are going to be using all of the skills and methods we have looked at so far to solve word problems.
When solving word problems, you need to find the numbers within the problem.
In this question, there are 2 numbers.
You can highlight them to make them stand out.
We know that when subtracting, you have to start with the biggest number which is 10 and take away the smaller number which is 3.
So 10 - 3 = 7
You should be spending half an hour a day on your phonics activities.
The Phase 3 grapheme we are revising, the Phase 5 grapheme is a new sound for you to try.
Today we will be recapping the digraph 'ar'.
This can be used at the beginning, middle or end of words.
Try having a go at reading some of the words below. Where is the 'ar' digraph?
When you have finished reading the words, there is a video for you to watch with some more reading activities.
Then try the writing activity below. You have to write the words that match the pictures but not all of them use 'ar'.
Our new sound today is 'ew' when it makes the 'oo' sound.
Have a look at the powerpoint below and see which words you can read.
There is also a video for you to watch. Can you hear any of the 'ew' words?
Your task today is to read the real and nonsense words. You will need 2 colours to complete this activity.
Please remember, your child should be spending 1 hour on English a day.
Half an hour of this lesson is delivered on zoom and the second half an hour is available in the uploaded activities. Please do not access these activities until after the Zoom session. Thank you.
WALT write sentences using 'and'
Today we are going to be using what we have learnt over the last 2 days to help us with our writing.
Your sentences should include two adjectives and the conjunction 'and'. For example ...
The evil pea is nasty and sneaky.
The evil pea is unkind to the vegetables and he is bad.
Challenge: Can you come up with any of your own adjectives and use them in a sentence?
Each subject should take you an hour to complete.
Computing WALA World Wide Web
Today you will be learning all about the World Wide Wed. There is a powerpoint for you to read through giving you lots of information such as what it is and who invented it. In the powerpoint there is a link to follow which we have also linked below incase it doesn't work.
Once you have finished reading the powerpoint, there are some questions for you to answer to show us what you know.
As your final activity today, we would like you to spend some time catching up on any purple mash activities that you have left to do or, if you are up to date, explore purple mash a bit more and try some new games or challenges.
There are lots of fun things on there for you to try :)
When you have finished, you can also have a go at some phonics games on phonics play, access some books on bug club or have a look at the storytime magazine on the year 1 main page.
