This half term our topic is Safari Surprise!
We are learning all about Africa. We will be focussing on the animals that we might find in the African Grasslands (The Savannah).
In English we will be reading a selection of fables based on Rudyard Kipling's Just So Animal Stories. The fables tell how a variety of animals became how they are today. Here are a few of the stories that we are reading:
In Science, we will be learning about some different African animals. We are going to be making an African Animal Fact File. We are focussing on describing the animals and finding out what they eat. This will help us to classify the animals according to whether they are mammals, birds, fish, reptiles, amphibians or insects and identify whether they are carnivores, herbivores or omnivores. Year 2s will be using the facts they discover to help them draw food chains and also discuss why animals are suited to the African Savannah habitat.
