Welcome to Seahorse Class!
We are so pleased your children have come to our school and are really looking forward to getting to know them!
We will be regularly updating this page with pictures and information to keep you updated with the fun we are having in school.
Drop off and pick up times
As you are aware we now have a one way system and staggered drop off and pick up times.
Seahorse Class drop off window is 9:10 - 9:20 and pick up is
3:20 - 3:30.
We would really appreciate it if you stick to these times to ensure we have the minimum amount of people on the school grounds at one time.
If your child has an older sibling, you are able to drop off at the end of the oldest siblings start time and pick up at the end of their finish time. More information can be found on the website under Parents > September Return 2020.
What to bring to school
We are trying to make sure the children aren’t bringing too many things to and from school. Each day, the children should come to school with a water bottle and a lunch box if needed. We would also appreciate it if they brought a coat each day as we try to take our learning outside as much as possible.
Children will soon be given a reading record and a school reading book. Books will be changed each Friday.
Our PE day is Thursday.
On this day children should come to school in their PE kit as we will not be getting them changed. If it is cold, this can be a tracksuit (black/navy blue) and trainers. If your child wants to wear their PE shorts underneath they can.
Our outdoor learning day is Wednesday. On this day children should come to school in old, warm (weather depending) waterproof clothing.
Our first 'Welly Wednesday will be on Wednesday 16th September. On this day the children should come into school in their 'Welly Wednesday' clothes (no school uniform). They may wear trainers and bring their wellies in a bag. Please label wellies, the bag and their clothes (including trainers) with their name, thank you in advance. We will then keep the children's wellies in school for them to wear every Wednesday.
Our vehicle for our learning in the Autumn Term will be:
Into the woods
Intent – Using a teddy based theme to encourage the children to settle into Reception, we hope this will make them feel comfortable and safe in their new environment.
Implementation – Having a Teddy bears picnic as a Hook Day where the children will bring their teddy to school to show it their new Reception class and the way of life in Reception. Teddy related books will be used to gain pleasure and interest in reading which will be the vehicle for beginning the Early Years Curriculum. Children will be introduced to fairy folk who live in the forest who will then pop up throughout the year.
Impact – Children will have a smooth transition into Reception and will feel comfortable and safe in the new setting.
Our First Days
Seahorses are having lots of fun settling into school. We are getting used to our new routines, making new friends and starting our school learning journey. Mrs Snape, Miss Hughes, Mrs Moore and Mrs Barrett - Meade are super proud of us!
