A special warm welcome to our new children and their families to our Nursery at Matchborough First School Academy. The Nursery team are Mrs Hines (teacher), Mrs Jarrett (HLTA), Mrs Kings (teaching assistant) and Mrs Moore (teaching assistant).

What do we do at Nursery?

We provide a wide range of activities which are set in our purposeful room and spacious outside area. We encourage children to learn through playful experiences and support the children in having a well rounded quality Early Years education.

To help keep you informed about what is happening in Nursery and school we send home a newsletter every fortnight and a learning leaflet each half term. Keep a look out for photographs on our class page...

Please ensure that children are wearing a school uniform

Please clearly label water bottles, jumpers, cardigans, and coats with your child's name

P.E. will be on a Monday. Please can the children wear trainers or pumps with jogging bottoms and red hoodie (from January).

If you have any concerns or queries please come and talk to the Early Years staff in Nursery...

We look forward to doing some fun learning activities this half term as our theme is 'Let's pretend...'

Sports Day!

Today the children took part in 3 races for Sports day! First we had the running race, then the bat and bean bag race and finally the dressing up race. The children had a lot of fun and I think we have some future Olympians!

Plant a Plant Day!

The children took an interest in potting the plants and making sure they were watered.

Dinosaur magnetism!

The children were exploring how to move the Dinosaur along the river using a magnet! The children thought it was "cool" and "like magic"... The children worked with a friend and took turns when engaging in this activity.

Victory in Europe Day activities

Today the children dressed up in red, white or blue clothes, soldiers and land girls to celebrate V.E day. They had the opportunity to make a union jack flag, design their own medals and make a collage...

Dinosaur Activities

We have been learning about different types of dinosaurs this term...Our favourite dinosaurs are Stegosaurus and T- Rex.

Spring Walk...

This week we went on a spring walk around the school grounds. We found lots of signs that Spring is nearly here...buds on the trees, daffodils, bird nests, a duck nesting on the pond, new plant growth, birds tweeting, daisies and buttercups. The children had fun collecting sticks and leaves to create a very large birds nest!

British Science week 2021!

During British Science week 5th-14th March the children made their own 'Flitter bottles'.

They enjoyed tipping the bottle back and forth to watch the movement of the flitter. They could compare the movements caused by a big shake, a little shake and just tipping the bottle upside down!

World Book Day 4th March - Share a story

Which book characters do you recognise?

We would like to thank you for your continued support and wish you all a Merry Christmas!

Please take a look at our two video clips of the children singing 'A Wriggly Nativity' and 'Jingle Bells'.

Please look in the Video Resource Centre (under the 'children's' tab) to find the songs...

'A Wriggly nativity'

Today the children were raising money for the PTA fundraiser - Forest School

The children could bend the rules by wearing something different, paint their nails, dye their hair and wear tattoos. Can you spot what rule they bent?

We celebrated 'Genes for Jeans day' by wearing as much denim as possible to Nursery! The children donated £1 to the charity to help buy specialist care and equipment.

Exploring Nursery...
