Morning Job

Our new tricky word is:

Read the word. Remember tricky words cannot be sounded out like most of the words we read in phonics.

When you are confident you can read the word,

Look at it, say it, cover it, write it, check it

If you spell it correctly 3 times in a row, write a sentences with the word 'have' in.

MATHS

Please remember, your child should be spending 1 hour on Maths a day. Half an hour of this lesson is delivered on zoom and the second half an hour is available in Teach it, Twist it and Deepen it activities. Please do not access these activities until after the Zoom session. Thank you.

Please also note:

A sum is an addition calculation. We call any addition or subtraction number sentence a calculation.

WALT subtract crossing 10

Today we will be recapping how to subtract crossing 10 using a number line.

Take a look at the model below to help you.

Tom has 15 sweets.

He gives 7 sweets to his friends.

How many sweets does he have left?

Start on the number 15 and make 7 jumps backwards as we are taking the sweets away.

The number you land on is your answer ... 8 sweets left.

PHONICS

You should be spending half an hour a day on your phonics activities.

The Phase 3 grapheme we are revising, the Phase 5 grapheme is a new sound for you to try

Phase 3

oa

oa is mostly found in the middle of words but can be found at the beginning as well.

Watch the 'oa' song below and read along with words on he screen.

Read the 'oa' words on this poster:

Choose 5 words from the poster and write a sentence for each.

CHALLENGE: try to include some of our tricky words in your sentences.

Phase 5

ie

The digraph ie makes the same sound as the trigraph igh

Watch the 'ie' words clip below and read along with the words on the screen.

Write these words on a piece of paper then draw the sound buttons below the graphemes

(This is also in the documents below if you want to print the words instead)

Download the PDF below and have a go at reading the 'ie' words. Don't be tricked by the pseudo words (alien words). Sound them out exactly as they have been written.

Choose 3 of the real words to write in a sentence.
