We are so pleased to welcome you back to your last year at Matchborough. What an exciting year we have planned for you! Even though it may feel slightly different at first, we will all get used to our new daily routines and structures put in place to keep us all safe.
Remember we are always there to chat if you have any questions or worries. Thank you always for your continued support.
Mrs Parker and Mrs Clarke
Our time slot for the start of the day is
9:10 - 9:20.
Our time slot for the end of the day is
3:20 - 3:30.
We will be in a year group bubble so the children in Year 4 will have lunch and play times together.
Your child now has everything they need in school so only needs to bring in their lunch box, water bottle and home learning diaries each day. Therefore they will not need to bring a rucksack to school.
Please ensure your child comes to school in P.E. kit on the following days
Tuesday - (Indoor P.E.)
*Please note that children can come into school in warm trousers, leggings or jogging bottoms on this day.
Thursday - (Outdoor P.E.)
If you have any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to talk to us.
Please ensure your child completes at least 4 pieces of home learning a week. This could be anything from reading a couple of pages of their book, practising their times tables on TTRockstars, SPaG or attending any clubs (such as swimming, football etc).
*Check out the front of your learning diaries for the log in and password details you need.
For each piece of home learning, your child will receive a merit which can contribute to a home learning award each half term. Please make sure you record their home learning in their home learning diary provided and ensure it is signed and dated.
Due to Covid, the children will take home two new reading books on a Monday and these are returned on a Friday to be quarantined over the weekend. The reading diaries can come back in daily to be checked off for their merits.
15 merits = Bronze award
20 merits = Silver award
25 merits = Gold award
Times Tables Rockstars
The children will be tested on their times tables knowledge four times a week. Please ensure you help your child to practise their times tables and ensure they log in to TTRockstars often as they will be given certain times tables to practise in line with the tests.
SPaG (Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar) Friday
There will be a SPaG test every Friday. Please ensure your child completes their SPaG homework which will be given out on a Friday in their SPaG book.
Please ensure your child accesses Times Tables Rockstars, Spelling Shed, Letter Join and Bug Club at home as this will really help to support their learning and prepare them for middle school.
Don't forget to add what they have done to their home learning diaries as this all counts as merits towards their awards.
Autumn 1 Topic -
Snap, Crackle & ROAAAR!
Do you enjoy eating cereal? What is your favourite?
Could you imagine eating 100 boxes of the same food for breakfast, lunch and dinner... EVERYDAY? Two brothers in our story really enjoyed eating cornflakes... to begin with. Find out all about them in our first topic.
We will be reading There's a Lion in My Cornflakes, looking at advertising, writing persuasive letters and designing our own cereal!
