4B - Mrs Bryzak

Welcome to 4B!

This year, we have got lots of brilliant topics, events and visitors ready to make our learning exciting! Keep coming back to find out what we have been learning about and any news about our class.

Welcome to World Book Day! The Year 4 staff dressed up as characters from David Walliams' books. Can you work out who we are?

This half term we are learning about the Vikings. Were they really vicious? Why did they come to England? Were they the same as the Anglo-Saxons? What did they contribute to England? We will be finding out the answers soon!

JANUARY 7th 2020

ADVANCE WARNING

On the first day back of 2020, Tuesday 7th January, Year 4 are going back in history for a exciting, fun-filled day of living the life of a Viking! Children are invited to dress up as a character from the Viking era.  Please don't feel the need to buy anything new. There are some ideas below that you can recreate.

What's the name of our Viking weapons?

Our Christmas Tea Day Trees!

SNAP, CRACKLE, ROAR!

Our first topic is all about breakfast cereals and... lions!?!

We started back with a snap, crackle, pop trying lots of different cereals as a year group.

We have already designed our own cereals and written adverts but there is more to come! Watch out for further updates.

We tested cereals, we tasted dried fruits and then we put them together to make our own cereal bar. We even designed the packaging and wrote adverts to sell it. Our cereal bars are the perfect way to start your day!

P.E.

This half term (Spring 1) we have outdoor P.E. on a Thursday.

Due to the weather, for outdoor P.E., children can wear plain black, blue or grey jogging bottoms or leggings and a jumper or tracksuit top.

We are currently improving our catching and throwing techniques and applying them to the game of rugby.

Our indoor PE is on a Wednesday. We are improving our gymnastic skills of travelling, jumping and balancing.

Home Learning

Please ensure your child completes at least 4 pieces of home learning each week by Friday. This could be anything from reading a couple of pages of their book, practising their times tables, SPaG or attending a club.

For each piece of home learning, your child will receive a merit which can contribute to a home learning award each half term. Please make sure you record their home learning in their home learning diary provided and ensure it is signed and dated.

I am looking forward to lots of awards this year for our Home Learning!

15 pieces of Home Learning = Bronze award

20 pieces of Home Learning = Silver award

25 pieces of Home Learning = Gold award

   SPaG

Every Friday, 4B receive new spelling or grammar rules in their SPaG books. Please look at them throughout the week and practise them. We have been having lots of fun at school practising our Bonus Words in lots of different ways like above. Please feel free to use these methods in the book.

The next Friday, the children will complete a test - sometimes just the word, sometimes adding in punctuation or sometimes writing sentences.

Welcome to our school website!
