Miss Begum, Mrs Woodrow, Mrs Higgins
Bees
This term we will be learning all about Bees!
Wimbledon Wednesday
The children enjoyed 'Wimbledon Wednesday' especially the traditional strawberries and cream!
Art
In Art we have been focusing on the artist ' Vincent Van Gogh'. The children have enjoyed learning about him and they were very proud of their sunflower paintings.
Rugby
English
The children have worked hard in English, they wrote their own play scripts and then practised and performed their plays to the class.
Football Friday
The children thoroughly enjoyed Football Friday, they learnt about the history of the Euros, tucked into a French breakfast of pain au chocolat, croissants and orange juice. They learnt about the history of the Eiffel Tower and created a 3D model of it. They also designed their very own football kit. The children were amazed at the football freestylers and enjoyed trying some of the tricks too!
Walk around Matchborough
As part of our Geography topic 'Our Local Area' we went for a walk around Matchborough. We discussed 'human' and 'physical' features and tried to spot these on our walk.
VE Day
British Science Week
Today we became scientists and created our own inventions and presented them to the class. Firstly, we thought of ideas of what we wanted to invent and then we chose one to design. We all had amazing ideas, including a suitcase which packs all of your clothes for you! We also carried out two experiments. The starburst experiment helped us to learn about the different types of rocks and how they are formed. We enjoyed eating a starburst at the end too! The volcano experiment was lots of fun as we were able to observe it erupt.
Home learning
We aim to get 3 pieces of homework in their home learning diary each week. This can be anything from reading a couple of pages of their book, practising times tables to attending a club. For each piece of home learning your child will receive a merit. These are counted up at the end of each half term and go towards home learning awards which your child can then use in the homework hut.
15 merits = Bronze award
20 merits = Silver award
25 merits = Gold award
Your child will change their reading book once a week on a Monday and they will need to be returned to school on a Friday. Their home learning diary can be brought into school everyday.
Please ensure your child comes to school in their full and correct P.E kit. Our P.E day is Wednesday.
The children will receive new spellings every Friday and will be tested the following Friday.
They will be attached into the children's home learning diaries.
Practising their spellings can be written in their home learning diary to gain even more merits.
If your child has lost their spellings, please don't hesitate to ask for a spare copy.
Look out for your child's login to practise their times tables at home!
Our challenge is to get everybody to at least a bronze award every half term!
REMEMBER! if you use Bugclub and your child reads the online books write it in the home learning diary.... every merit counts!
Children can also use letter join which is there to support children with their handwriting, again this will count as a merit in their home learning diary so please write it in.
Ukulele's must be in school every Thursday
Equipment
We would like children to bring the following things with them:
Please note, children will not be required to bring many items to school and therefore should not need a rucksack.
MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM 3B!
