- There will be a morning and afternoon playtime
- We have a sports coach to teach one of our PE lessons
- Children will be given spellings each week to practise at home and in the morning at school ready for a spelling quiz the next week
- Each child will read with an adult during the week in school
In our class, we are very lucky to have 3 adults to support the children in 2C. Find out more about us on the transition poster below.
We really appreciate your support and are happy to discuss any questions or concerns that you may have!
Mrs Cartwright, Mrs Fowkes and Mrs Guest
We will be focusing on phonics sounds and the Year 1 and 2 common exception words to begin with. The children ideally need to be able to read and write all of these words by the end of Year 2. Please encourage your child to practise these at home and this can be written in their home school diary. The children will also have chance to practise these spellings when they first come into school in the morning. They will have a spelling quiz each week on a Friday.
If you go down to the woods...
Here is our new book. This half term, we will be learning all about our local area and the minibeasts we might find in the microhabitats too! To find out more, take a look at our learning leaflet.

Here are some of the songs we are practising for the Harvest production. If you practise them at home, you can put them in your home learning diary.
Don't forget to practise your lines too!
Our first topic is all about monsters. We are going to be reading lots of books about different types and we will be describing them using adjectives. We have already learnt about the worry monster who eats out worries when we share them.

Important information about 2C
All children in the school are rewarded for reading and for learning at home. They will receive a merit every time they read and complete some homework and it is recorded in their log.
15 merits = Bronze
20 merits = Silver
25 merits = Gold
At the end of the half term the children's merits will be converted into learning loot to spend in the homework hut. Please support the children with their learning at home.
Children are also rewarded within our classroom for reading 50 times and they will receive a bookmark and a prize.
50 merits = Purple
Home learning online
Your child has logins in the front of their red home learning diaries. These logins can be used to access different programs that we use in school and could be used at home to further their learning. Please let us know if you need new logins or you need any support with these.
This is a website where children can access books that are tailored to the book band that they are reading within school. It also includes questions to check their understanding and gives rewards too! This can be accessed on tablets as well as laptops. This reading can then be recorded in their diaries to earn more merits.
This is another educational website that your child can access. It has games and activities for all areas of the curriculum.
We have Indoor PE on a Monday and Outdoor PE on a Wednesday
Children can come to school and remain in their PE kits all day on the days they have PE.
Please ensure that they are wearing correct kit and that long hair is tied back.
They can can wear tracksuit tops and bottoms in the cooler weather. If they have indoor PE, then can wear warmer sports clothing over their shorts and t-shirt, or choose to wear tracksuit bottoms for the day.
