We hope you have had an amazing festive seasons and have enjoyed quality family time!
Year 2 is the place to be this year so you are extremely lucky boys and girls.
We have lots of exciting learning planned that will ensure your minds grow and grow! There will be challenges and some things we may find tricky, but as a team we will all be star learners. We will make sure you grow in confidence, independence and knowledge so you can succeed in your final year in key stage 1 and be ready to smash key stage 2!
Happy New Year!
I hope you all had an amazing Christmas with your families. Last half term was tremendously busy and I am so proud of all of team 2BW for pulling off a showstopper of an assembly in the last week of term. All the children shone and the feedback they have received has been very well deserved.
We are starting the new year with a thrilling Geography based topic focusing on the continent of Africa.
We will be exploring this wonderful place on earth and some of the interesting creatures that live there.
We have looked at clues to predict what our new story, 'The lion inside' is about. We have lots of cool ideas, ones like the story is about a mouse that eats a lion!
We are looking forward to doing lots of hard work to uncover the truth.

Autumn 2 is always a busy half term in school and this year is no exception... We are starting a History based learning journey looking at Guy Fawkes where we will be learning all about him and how he has affected our lives today.
We have also got lots of great crafts and events in the lead up to the Christmas celebration. On top of this, we have got 2BW's class assembly.
Buckle up your seat belts kids, it's a busy one!
Thank you for all you do outside of the classroom to support your child's development. Please feel free to approach us with any questions and concerns you may have.
We also love to hear about your child's adventures outside of school in their free time.
Mr Whilton, Mr Gentle and Mrs White
Our first topic in our year 2 learning journey is Marvellous Monsters. We love our new classroom but we thought it was a bit of a coincidence, when we came back from assembly on our first day, our book corner was trashed and our books vanished! We are thinking the culprit is a monster. We will solve the crime soon enough... especially if we keep collecting all of the valuable evidence!
It was Nibbles the book monster that was taking our books. We investigated the best materials to use to catch him with in Science, we made a trap in DT and managed to catch him.
We felt relieved... until we noticed he escaped from the trap!
Outdoor PE - Tuesday afternoon
Indoor PE - Thursday afternoon
Please ensure your child has their full PE kit in school on these days.
In year 2 our aim is for the children to get at least 4 pieces of home learning recorded in their diary each week. This can be anything from reading a couple of pages of their book, reading on line books on Bug Club, practising their times tables or attending a club. It could even be helping prepare dinner, tidy up or helping look after and entertain younger siblings and pets!
For each piece of home learning recorded your child will receive a merit. These are counted up at the end of each half term and get transferred into Learning Loot which can be spent in the Homework Hut!
15 merits = Bronze award
20 merits = Silver award
25 merits = Gold award
and for 2BW, 50+ merits = Planet Perfect
Let's see if we can all get on at least Bronze every half term team 2BW.
MORE WAYS OF IMPROVING YOUR LEARNING AND EARNING THOSE IMPORTANT MERITS...
REMEMBER if you log on, write it in the diary.
Every child has log in details for the following websites stapled into their Home Learning diaries.
The children will receive new spellings each Wednesday and will be tested the following Wednesday. They are attached to the front of the children's Home Learning diaries. We have included all the weeks for this half term.
When the children practise their spellings, write it in their diary and they will get even more merits.
