Our Topic is :Animal Magic.
We will be looking at the story Giraffes Can't Dance.
We will look closely at Gerald the Giraffe and learn lots of fun facts about him.
Do you know how tall a Giraffe is?
Whilst looking at Gerald we will look at other animals that live along side him. We will sort animals into groups and write simple reports about them too. Do you know what the biggest mammal is? Can you name an Amphibian?
In Autumn Term 2 we looked at the stories of Paddington Bear. We discussed the characters feelings, ordered the events of the story and learnt about Paddington himself.
We also learnt all about London landmarks as well as all about The Great Fire of London.
We even learnt a song to help us remember what happened!
Our Topic for the first part of the Autumn Term was 'Once Upon a Time'.
We looked at a range of Traditional Fairy Tale books and completed a range of activities based on them.
We started with Jack and the Beanstalk; exploring the characters and setting, taking part in role play and creating our own year 1 beanstalk. We looked at other traditional tales throughout the term.
HOME LEARNING REWARDS
Please remember to read at home as much as you can with your child.
Your child will come home with a home school reader that is suited to their level of reading but please encourage them to read a wide variety things such as library books, magazine, menus, shopping lists, Lego instructions, Game instructions and recipes.
Please record any reading they do in their Home Learning Log Books.
You can also record any extra activities they do in the Log Books such as swimming clubs, football sessions, dance lessons and much more.
At the end of each half term the children can visit the homework hut and exchange their reward voucher for a prize.
15 Home learning merits= BRONZE

25 Home learning merits = GOLD
In 1CW we have PE on Wednesday and Thursday.
Please ensure your child has the correct kit in school.

As the weather is getting increasingly colder, please can you make sure the children have tracksuit bottoms and a sports jumper in school as well as suitable outdoor trainers.
We still intend to do PE despite the cold weather.
