Special Delivery!

Special Delivery! 1
This week we have had a very special delivery in Reception. We are looking after some eggs, but we don't know what is inside them!

Dinosaur eggs

We discovered that the eggs living in our role play area have hatched into dinosaurs! We are using our phonics to help us write to the dinosaurs asking them to leave the school!
We have been looking after caterpillars, writing our own caterpillar diary every day to show how the caterpillars have changed. We are looking forward to having our own class butterflies very soon!

In Forest school we have been looking at creating shelters using some material and pegs. We have also been creating our own bird feeders working hard to thread the food onto the string.

This term our topic is 'All creatures great and small'

These are our focus books:

Last term we looked at Traditional Tales with a focus on the story of The Three Little Pigs.

The children have had a look at a crime scene and created wanted posters to catch the Big Bad Wolf who destroyed the role play area on the first day back after Christmas.

We also looked at retelling the story and sequencing the story we knew. We are also learnt a song about The Three Little Pigs to help us in our story telling.

With the shoe boxes we are creating a story setting scene for The Three Little Pigs. We can't wait to show you the finished boxes!

This week in PE we have been practising our ball skills. We have practised rolling the ball to our partners and maintaining control over the ball.

P.E and Forest

Foxes will be having P.E on a Tuesday. PE kits will be sent home at the end of every half term

Forest will be on Wednesdays. Please can you ensure that your child has a change of clothes and Wellies for Forest so that they don't get their school clothes muddy! Thankyou smiley

We have been looking at Diwali this week, watching videos to help us learn more. During our topic session we have been using clay to create our own Diwali candles that will be coming home with us soon. Here are the results of our candles so far!

We have been using magnifying glasses to explore the forest area. We have been looking closely at bugs, leaves and any other interesting things we can find! Take a look at the pictures below.

As part of Forces Friday we created our own poppies to create a poppy display on our classroom wall.

We have looked at fireworks and bonfire night this term. We have watched videos on Bonfire safety, seen a video of a firework display and had a go at creating our own bonfire and firework pictures.

As part of our Space topic we have looked at pictures of space and have been listening to a planet song. We have created our own pictures of space using black paper and coloured chalk. Here are some of our pictures that are currently on display in the main area of Reception.

We have been enjoying running and walking around the track seeing how many laps we can do! We have been writing down how long we have been running for back in the classroom. We have been aiming for 15 minutes when we can! You can see some of our pictures from the track below!

On Wednesday we had lots of fun exploring the Forest. We looked for different sized pine cones and sticks as well as seeing if we could see any bugs!
